We had a great time in NYC – we'd been keeping up with the World Series baseball between the Yankees and Phillies. While we were in NY the Yankees won, which was huge for the city.
The first couple of nights we stayed in a little hotel in East Midtown of Manhattan, and then the last few with Em's friend Georgina in Hoboken, NJ (just across the Hudson from NYC). Curiously, we worked out that Joe knew her boyfriend and one of their friends from Ashburton and U12 cricket. The world is tiny!
So much to see in New York – we took in the lights and bustle of Times Square, went around a bit Central Park, the UN building, went to see 'West Side Story' on Broadway, wandered around some of Chinatown, Little Italy, Chelsea, and East Village, and visited other sites like the Brooklyn Bridge, High Line, Wall Street, & WTC memorial. We also went up the Empire State Building at night for a great view of the city lights (although Emma didn't cope too well with the height). Friday was mostly spent between Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty – we got tickets to climb up the monument, so had a great view from just underneath the Statue across the boroughs – and then also a quick free look around MoMA. We also went to see 'Where the Wild Things Are', which was a little surreal as we were in the middle of New York City, and watching the coastline of Victoria!
Next stop is Boston – the trip is going so fast.
