Viva Las Vegas

We're currently sitting in our hotel room in Flagstaff AZ, having driven across from Vegas today via the Hoover Dam and Grand Canyon. It's feeling really cold in this part of the country, although still very lucky with sunny clear days.

Vegas was surreal but great fun. We were staying at a hotel just off the Strip, so we could walk around the different casinos and shops very easily. You easily forget in the middle of all the lights and casino themes you're in the middle of a desert.

We slowed the pace a little here with some sleep-ins (which was a nice change of pace after busy stops previously) – we had a look at the Bellagio fountains, and through a lot of the casinos (not too much gambling though) up to Fremont St, and a bit of shopping. We also got to catch up with Ads and Jus, and they organised some cheaper tickets for us to go see Cirque du Soleil 'Love' – which was amazing!!

We have hired a car for this last bit of travel. Today we drove from Vegas to Arizona – stopped at the Hoover Dam and then had a few hours at the Grand Canyon. With limited time we stuck to the Rim Trail from Mather Point to Trailview Overlook and got to see the sunset over the Canyon. The change in colours as the afternoon drew on was an awesome sight.

So from Flagstaff, we have a couple of days to drive to San Francisco. The road trip continues!
